I am direc, d by the Secretary of State for War to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, No.25905, of the 13th ultimo transmiting a copy of a Memorandum by the Colonial Defence Committee on the state of the Defences
of Hong Kong.
In reply 1 am to acquaint you that Lord Lansdowne concurs in the Memorandum of the Committee, but rresumes that it will be treated as confidential and will not be communicated to the Secretary to the Navy League.
